Careers in Recruitment
Skye Recruitment is continually looking for motivated people who want a career in recruitment.
We are interested in graduates with all types of degrees - arts, science, engineering, etc. The main thing you will need to show is that you are a great communicator with the drive and determination to succeed in a fast paced dynamic role.
What does a Recruitment Consultant do?
Broadly speaking a Recruitment Consultant works closely with client companies to find them the right staff, while simultaneously working closely with job-seekers to match them with the right opportunities too.
A good Recruitment Consultant will be excellent at forming and developing relationships with people. The role involves building up and maintaining a client base, shortlisting and interviewing job-seekers, and advising both clients and job-seekers on the best way to go about achieving their objectives.
As a Consultant you will be expected to advise on things like salary benchmarking, your industry's market, improving success at interview, and relocation/ immigration issues, to name just a few.
It is a largely autonomous role, although Consultants work as part of a team too. You would be responsible for how you work on a day to day basis, but with the back-up of a team and a manager to help and support you at all times.
This is a fast paced job, and Recruitment Consultants need to have high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and drive to succeed in this exciting environment.
What are the future prospects for Recruitment Consultants?
There are a number of paths that a Recruitment Consultant's career can take. You can move into a leadership or management role, and help less experienced Consultants to improve their skills. You may decide that you enjoy being the top recruiter in your industry sector, and carve out a specialist niche for yourself as the person that clients and job-seekers go to when they need recruitment assistance. Another alternative is for you to pursue a Business Development Manager role, and win new business and new clients.
Whichever path you decide to take, you are only limited by your skills and imagination, the role is there to be shaped by you.
What if I have no experience?
